Silent Night

Eight fourty-five P.M. in Dahlonega, GA on a rainy Christmas Eve, two thousand eight. A very merry Christmas to all.

Love all those tree lights in the last photo. What a great little town you live in! (is it little?) It looks like a storybook mainstreet USA to me. A very Merry Christmas to you too!

There are about 3000 residents and about 6500 when the college is in session. We are in the mountains here and these scenes encompass the entirety of the town square. Our town is the home of the first gold rush in the U.S, in 1828. It's a pleasant place to live and we're close to Atlanta but also to the John C. Campbell School and other landmarks of the Appalachian folkart traditions.
